In celebration of Black History Month 16-25 year olds are being given the chance to make a short film exploring how black culture has inspired them.

The opportunity is being run by Media Trust in partnership with Channel Four and entrants are invited to submit their film ideas online by Thursday 29th July.

The top ten ideas will be selected and winners will be given the training and support to have their concept developed into a short film.

Black History Month is celebrated in October in the UK and aims to promote knowledge of the black history, culture and heritage.

The My Story Project, which was run with young offenders in Leeds and young people in Bournemouth has been completed. The videos have been filmed and edited and now it’s time to sit back and watch.

The Media Box funded project explored anti-social behaviour in the community and the way in which older members of the community and youths perceive each other.

The young people produced amusing yet thought provoking films tackling the issue. The films were shot over a few weeks and the young people then came on board The Media Bus to learn about film editing and put together their footage.

Look out for the films which will be available YouTube shortly.
